NEWSPRING CAPITAL PORTFOLIO COMPANY CEOs AND PARTNER RECOGNIZED AS E&Y ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD REGIONAL FINALISTS
RADNOR, PA, June 11, 2009 – NewSpring Capital, headquartered in Radnor, PA, is pleased to announce that four of its portfolio company CEOs have been selected as regional finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In addition, Bruce Downey, former CEO of Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and now Partner of NewSpring Health Capital, has been selected as a regional finalist for his work at Barr.
NewSpring Capital's portfolio company CEO finalists for the New Jersey regional awards are Robert Farina of Cybershift Inc., Howard Weisman of EKR Therapeutics Inc., and York Wang of York Telecom, Inc. Frank McCaney of Nitric Bio Therapeutics, Inc. was named a finalist for the Philadelphia region. These finalists represent portfolio companies from each of NewSpring Capital's funds: NewSpring Ventures, NewSpring Health Capital and NewSpring Mezzanine Capital.

The recipients of this year's award will be announced at the awards galas on June 18th for the Philadelphia region and on June 23rd for New Jersey. Winners of the regional awards will be eligible for the national competition on November 14th, 2009 in Palm Springs, CA, where national category awards and the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award will be announced. Past National Entrepreneur of the Year winners include Michael Dell of Dell Computer Corporation, Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines, Pierre Omidyar of eBay, Matthew Szulik of Red Hat, and Richard Caruso of Integra Life Sciences Corporation.
